Something about her

She seems so self assured,
tall and slender blond grace
behind a face of smile,
she hungers
for another place
another time
a different woman
with a real smile
and a husband
whose touch is magic
and kids who make
her proud.

She wants
what she thinks she doesn't have,
she comes and goes,
days turn to months
and age plays with her.
She does not change her face,
slip it off,
put on something comfortable
instead the corner of her smile twitches
and shifts as she turns.

A bearded round good natured
laugh, looks and sees
the beauty of her face.
He wants to hold her
and make okay her pain.
In distance they dance
around each other
denying importance
waiting for something.

He takes her with his eyes
as she pretends to ignore
what is so obvious.

At night when she dreams,
she is happy.
Curled into herself
she opens doors where
spring is always
and love is real.

Ah, you've depicted the inner thoughts of a self assured yet unfulfilled woman! Excellent!
