My mother wrote this piece after my adoption to send in the place of a birth announcement. I thought I would share it with you.

The stork is working overtime
And he deserves a rest
So we picked our precious bundle
From a different little nest

Now we proudly do announce
And we feel so very glad
Our darling daughter Shannon
We're now her Mom and Dad

At 3610 Glencairn Road
Is where she will reside
A welcome is extended you
To see our joy and pride

Dorothy Bodek

Such a precious way to announce your arrival.

This is so sweet! A big hug to your mom and dad for being the kind of parents they are and for picking out the 'sweetest' from the nest.

'Pepper From A Different Shaker'
just seems to fit it.
I'll bet your mom thinks so too.
Still just love this tender piece you shared with us.
You're welcome. ~Marge~

A lovely way to announce their new addition to the family. When my wife was pregnant with our first child, I wrote a lullaby to her, based on the meanings of the names we had chosen:

Leah Rachel, grace and beauty.
Loved by God, and favored by man.
Fruitful and cherished. This weary little lamb
I entrust to our Shepherd's care.

My wife asked me why I didn't write one for Andrew Philip, in case it was a boy. I replied, "Then I'd have wasted a song." We wanted a girl and got one. The boy came later.

Pepper:..A while back I posted this somewhere else...and when I read what your mum posted..I thought you might like this..I know it doesn't apply to all situations like yours, but just maybe it does...

This is my child
yet she is not mine
My flesh and blood
but their sweat and tears
She caries my genes
yet will be shaped
by their personalities
She lives strong in my heart
but her heart feels for them
She lives in my fantasies
my dreams
Yet she's their dream come true
their beautiful and precious reality
I gave her life
with which she made theirs whole
I learned so much to love her
That I let her go
My child
Their child
it doesn't make sense
Yet at the same time
My child
my dream for her to have better
than I could give
Their child
Their dream
to give her better than I could give
My child
so painful
the hurt caused by her leaving
so much grieving
Yet a world full of happiness
in their receiving.....

Pepper....that was from the other side of the coin..
