APOCALYPSE -NOT NOW!

The coming of a millennium, apocalyptic fears
What will happen to our planet in the coming years?
Disastrous consequences, Y2K predictions
Rumors and opinions, speculation and convictions

Crystal balls and prophesies, the future of mankind
The fate of planet earth lurking in the hands of time
Writings in the pyramids, chanting of the witches
Everybody scrambling to fix computer glitches

Questions still unanswered, ask St. Malachy
Merlin, Nostradamus and the stars up in the sky
To think the truth will be revealed the second that a ball
Mounted on a pole atop Times Square decides to fall

Of course it could be argued that the new millennium
Doesn't really start until the year two thousand one
That would give us needed space, a little extra room
One more precious year for us to contemplate our doom

In the meantime we all hold our breath in nervous contemplation
Sitting on the edges of our seats in expectation
I know not what will happen, but one fact you can't deny
If we hold our breath too long, all of us will surely die

I love this poem, and the message to it. Don't live in fear of the inevitable end of the world, live in spite of it. (though I don't really think the world will end in 2000 or 2001, because I had heard that June '99 was the time, and did anything happen? no)
