Pray For Me

Pray for me mother
at 18, raped by the hands of a 23 year old
wanting to die, wanting to run
running into the wrong arms
leaving home

Pray for me father
at 25, seven years into an abusive marriage
dying inside, too frightened to run
no arms to hold me
leaving myself

Pray for me sister
at 33, beaten and bruised by my own son
praying for death, no where to run
arms that once held him, empty
heart left empty too

Pray for me friend
at 36, free, an entire life before me
learning to live, learning to stay
holding my own
leaving the past behind

Pray for me friends
And I will pray for you

**sigh**

A life fraught with turmoil....aren't they all? There aren't enough prayers in the world.....I will send my hopes (of which there aren't many) to you. You've been through a lot, this poem says, and have the strength to come back every time. Keep faith.

Thank you everyone. This was meant more as a cleansing poem than anything. I haven't lived an easy life and I wouldn't wish my life on anyone, but, I do not regret it for it has made me the person I am today and I really do like that person friends

One more prayer can't hurt. So I too, pray for you. It takes real, true, courage to get through difficult times in our lives, but it takes even more strength to go on and make life extrodinary!

Ruth ... you have overcome the demons of the past. In reaching in ... you have reached out. I grasp your hand in friendship and compassion.

Lady Hoot: I can't even come close to relating to the hardhships you've suffered, but you have my admiration and respect at surviving through it all... to be able to say that you like the person you are today... good for you... sending good karma your way.

Dear Ruth
I hope you have found true joy now - you certainly deserve it dear.
Wonderful poem - though words can sometimes be inadequate, even for us writers.

I have passed by this poem several times. I
was not trying to avoid reading it. I wish
there was somthing I could say, but sometimes
words just can't express our emotions I will say prayers for you. (BIG HUG)

Finding happiness is the common pursuit. Like the ancient Diogenes who took his lamp in search of truth. the roads today in our modern world are jammed with people trying to find happiness.

To many people, happiness is just an end to itself, rather than a means to the end. Our "rights" as Americans only guarentee the pursuit of, not the achievement of, happiness. This distinction is a key to happiness.

What is happiness to you? How would you describe it? Does your definition include expressions like feeling good, a sense of well-being, accomplishing goals, being at peace with one's self, and living without trouble, pain and sorrow?

Happiness can be defined as the absence of conflict, the resolution of disagreement and as a dissolving of disharmony. Failure to meet what was hoped for is the absence of happiness.

"Happy is the person whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night." Psalm 1:2

So I pray to the Lord above for you..for your happiness, for your hope and faith. And I leave with a final God bless and my prayers are definitely with you!

Those who taste the pain of life can appreciate its sweetness so much more. For that which you have been through, may your future return a thousand-fold more sweetnesses. You have friends here, Ruth. Do not forget that.
