A Mystery

So poor is he who never felt the fierce and crucial blade
Carve deep into his soul the wounds of life's most cruel charade
Who never felt the hunger of the body or the soul
Or knew a loss too great for his weary heart to hold

So wealthy is the man who suffered silently at night
And held his head in dignity in the day's unsparing light
So rich is he who agonized with stature and esteem
And in sorrow never abandoned his most exquisite dream

So far he fell that he may now arise so far above
So devistated was his heart, he now abounds in love
So deep his well of sorrow, that his joy now overwhelms
Where once his course uncharted, he now controls the healm

So beautious now each moment, so simple every need
So much like music every spoken word, so precious every deed
The fact that sorrow could create such fortune to possess
Is a mystery that life itself most likely won't confess
