Don't Let The Sun Go Down
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

Did you ever watch the setting sun,
remembering things you'd left undone?
A word of kindness you could have given?
The act against you that needed forgiving?

Do not let the sun go down on the day,
when you still hold the acts of kindness
you should have given away.

Give your treasure
of friendship away ...
harbor no grudges
to end your day.

You'll be richer,
though it's hard to believe,
by giving away
more than you receive.

It is possible,
but I hope it's not so,
that the sun may not rise
for the person you owe.

A good poem. A sort of commentary on Ephesians 4:26-27: "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil." You must have had these verses in mind.

MoonMoon, Martie and Denise ... thanks so much.
Kenneth, thank you. Actually I did not have a biblical verse in mind at all when I wrote this one. It was written to remind me that there is one in this world that I owe a forgiveness to ... and I can't locate her.
The sun sets each day and she doesn't know that I have forgiven her for a hurt. That pains me and so ... I remind myself how quickly the sun sets ... and try to address issues before the last beam of light leaves the day.
Just in case she ever sees this, Carol, I forgave the hurt a long time ago. ~Marge~
