I hear the wind in your sighs,
And the ocean roars in your tears.
And in the silence of the night
I hold you close and feel your fears.
I brush the hair from your face
And smell the salt from where you cried,
Like a rain it kept dull pace
And darkend my whole sky.
I know I lived your pain
Though it cannot be replaced,
Just judging by the rain
Of the tears upon your face.
So I simply hold you and sigh
As you sleep upon my arm
And as morning draws nigh,
I will protect you from all harm.
So sleep my lovely boy
And know that all is right,
Even though you lost your toy
Daddy's here tonight.

--Sometimes the little things seem like a lot. This was meant to be a comfort to my son, but I feel just like that sometimes myself and am comforted that I also have a Father looking out for me. RSE--

You are lucky indeed to have both a father and a son. From one you learned the love you now give the other. Beautiful poem

Awesome, Robert. I have had no worse pain than that of seeing my children cry. Beautifully done.

Actually, Martie, my dad passed away a year ago this month, but what he gave me I carry with me everywhere. I only hope that I can give my son all my father gave me.
