Shattered by ribs and a tractor
we gather, shocked on the electric green lawn:
what a beautiful evening except for mosquitoes.
Sobbing while anxious neighbors peek:
Can we laugh?
Nobody gives a damn about these mosquitoes,
but really we should go inside.
To where?
from Uncle Mike, who, sobbing like a puppy just won’t
Let go.
This cannot be real. No this is not real.
Please let go.
You know, this is really the perfect evening for ice cream,
Dad loves ice cream.
He’s not here anymore, that’s why everyone’s sobbing on the front lawn.
