It was my original idea to write something about dusk and dawn, but then my mind decided to wander off and this is the result. Perhaps a little too dark, but it may be a good start for a much longer poem, although I cannot write that now... it's too depressing! LOL

Beyond the Shades

In a dark velvet blanket, beyond shades of gray,
Lies a blackness concealed with the smell of decay.
As I reach out to loose myself into the night,
I am thrown down a pit full of colourful fright.

When the colours appear in all hues pink and red,
I'm reminded of bodies of war and blood shed;
And the orange burned ring on the devil's left claw,
A reminder of napalm burned people I saw.

Is my hell to continue in life after death?
No relief to be found in my last taken breath?
I'll continue my hell on another level?
Am I trading release for a seat near the Devil?

My poet's pen weeps ruby tears of regret.
When I meet with the Angel of Life and not Death.
They are soothingly blue, her tears from the sea,
That drip a compassionate peace onto me.

In a bright velvet blanket, in the shades that will thrive,
Lies a whiteness concealed with a promise of life

Wow, Munda! You need a happy pill, or at least stop reading MacBeth so much!

Aside from that, it's excellent. You wove the colors in very well to give great meaning to the poem. Nice work...

(Now go to MacDonald's and have a happy meal)

You sure got my attention.  I keep coming back to read this one.  It's interesting.
