I met my lady for a dinner date,
But took a bus that happened to be late.

So firm was my sincere intent to please her,
I thought perhaps a poem would appease her.

I wrote this couplet as I came to meet her;
Said it was in Iambic Pentameter.

She laughed when I arrived, "That's just absurd!"
Pentameter is how you say the word."

Alas, it's now a pretty certain wager
I'll never date another English major.

Silly girl...to let you get away so easily. I was an English major...but not so set in my ways as she. I enjoyed the humor within this tasty poem!
