Death By Crow

By Crow
Is a hard death.
A wounded sandpiper
Flailing, lurching, trying to flee
Or swim along the edge of the water,
Tiring, sagging while the crow waits
Patient on the sandbar.
So black, this Death
By Crow.

Ratleader,
Nice read. Like they say when your dinner is late to the table at a restauraunt, good food takes time to prepare.

Raven
A path direct
Traversing all distance
From nascency to grave finis
Clear visibility in aerie flight
Awaft unclouded sunlit skies
No earthly view unseen
Dreams met on wing

Very cool, Ed.
The only thing keeping this from being a perfect
rictameter, is the use of two one-syllable words, rather
than one two-syllable word, in the first and last lines.
Other than that...perfect.

Yep, but I won't let the form choose my words -- that would rule out too many things that could be said in this form. I wouldn't be classless and stick a three-syllable word there, but.....

Visualizing a poem that starts:

"Fanta
stic......."

Uck!

Ah, gee!  I thought that crows ate worms and corn.  Thanks for furthering my education with your graphic description.  Or was the hunter crow just enjoying the kill?  Never thought of crows as predators.  Do crows eat rats?

Great write--it got me thinking...
