Motionless
As a sentinel,
In stalwart stance
Before a looming gate...

Yet plotting a maiden flight
Across a foreboding threshold
To a new realm of
Once unfathomable dreams.

Through seasons and a day
Skulking trepidations
Jeer at rising inklings
Of imminent prowess;

Until a glimmer of courage,
Supplanting childlike fears,
Embarks tentatively like a Cowardly Lion
To a rocky new adventure.

Focus
Look ahead
Balance

CRASH...!!

Refocus
Concentrate
Balance

CRUNCH...!!

Focus again
Zone in
Balance

SPLOOTCH...!!!

One more time
Pedal
Pedal

Pedal onward
Triumphantly
Empowered

BEING
The Best Ever
Mini-Sport
Roadmaster

And...
Then...
Stop?
But HOW?

A lesson well learned need happen only once.
Remembrance is infinite.

Nan, this flooded me with memories as I thought back many years ago of teaching our daughter to ride. Oh the bumps and boo-boo's and tears of 'I can't do this.'

Now at 28, she rides her bike all over Boston and Cambridge!

This was great and I enjoyed the pictures.

Hugs, Marti

Nan:

I liked this (especially with the pictures).  One question though ... "SPLOOCH"???

Enjoyed.

Hi Nan!

This describes the learning process of anything rather well.  How about teaching the tanka form for our October lesson?  For those who are more advanced--they could write a tanka in 12 words or less.

Nan, this is really cute and so well done. I also will not forget what I learned the hart way, smiles. But that's it what makes it all worth while.

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.
