The First Person Who Ever Loved Me

You were the first person who ever loved me
your body was the fertile soil
providing nurture
for the embryonic pieces of love
joining together as one
creating my newborn self

you were the strong thread
running through the colorful tapestry of my years
yours was the first stitch in the weaving
creating my life from yours

you were the music
playing softly in the background
of my soul's symphony
you were the singer of the very first note
creating chords of harmony
from chaos

you were the strength
providing inspiration for my poetic musings
you taught me to speak my very first words
creating passion from pen and paper

you are my mother
you taught me love
with warm hugs and Mother Goose
you were the role model of my childhood
creating a strong woman
from an awkward little girl

you were the first person who ever loved me

Lyra... This is so very touching.
The bond between mother and daughter is so very special, a wonderful example of free verse... Paul

Hi Lyra,

Thanks for bringing an actual tear to my eye as it reminded me of my own dear mother, gone much too long now. A beautiful tribute. Mothers are truly very special people.

Thanks,
Pete

Thanks so much for your replies...everyone...
I'm sorry it took so long...
I have had my son and daughter in law here for the past week and they have held my computer captive
They just left and now I have my computer back again...
but I miss them

Madame C.
To me, this is a very well versed sentiment
to the "one and only". Mine has been gone a number of years. I'd like to think she approves of my writing, as I'm sure yours' does of yours.

Thanks so much Doc...
My mother is 87 yrs old and she thinks anything I write is great...
She keeps telling me that I should find a publisher and get my poems published...
Like its real easy, right...
even for the really really good poets

You  have a wonderful way of expressing yourself, Lyra - either in structured or free verse.   This is a wonderful tribute to your mom - I'm glad you shared it with us here...

Truly Amazing!  Your words just flow so beautifully.  Fantastic vocabulary.  This
touched home with me.  Our mothers are a true
gift from God!  Thanks for such beautiful verse.

Thanks so much, Kristen...  a mother is a mother is a mother...
Your mother will always be your mother, even if your step mother is more like a mother to you...  it is your real mother who gave you life...
