Yon whistling wind of summer’s day
A gypsy hearkened distant beck
Familiar chant resounds indeed
To call’s travail she must pay heed
With visions of her yearly trek
MissGypsiNess was on her way

On board from Boston whisked away
Train to Chicago by next day
And so began her westbound trek
With wanderlust her summer’s beck
All in her track pay rightly heed
Beware of impish gypsy deed

From Chi-town northerly her deed
Kazoo and on to Colon’s way
Where wizardry made magic heed
Her mission to GearUp each day
Till chipmunks chattered farewell beck
Embarked then on her westward trek

Two nights on rail she kept on trek
To follow wanderlust her deed
Crossed Rockies to Pacific beck
Then headed on northwestern way
Debarking for a fortnight’s day
A caution all Canucks should heed

In concert led by Lauper’s heed
To “Girls just having fun” last trek
As Cher sang songs of yesterday
“I’ve Got You, Babe” her grandest deed
The timeless queen of Gypsy’s way
“I’m done, so follow THIS!” her beck

Responding to MissGypsi’s beck
Mysteria showed her the way
Cross mountainside she must take heed
Vancouver’s hills and dales to trek
A truly staunch and sprightly deed
More’s yet to come than told this day

Adventure as her beck, the calling to her trek
She’ll pay eternal heed to meet her quest indeed
To forge her gypsy way through ever and a day

Sounds like a wonderful trip. Nicely written, rhymes and everything. Maybe a small bit of fudging on indeed/deed, day/yesterday? But I think you should be allowed that anyway.

Wish I had been there.

Nice imagery!

Suggestion:

Try the same poem in free verse just to see how it comes out!

Hi Radrook - Thanks for reading and suggesting improvements.  Believe me - It's not easy for a gypsy to write of her travels in such a restricted format.

Good thing it's 'free verse' month, eh?

Yo Pete - I did those little 'cheats' to keep from being bored... ya know?..
