HEALING SOLITUDE

There is healing in time alone,
seeking the solace of solitude.
Resounding thoughts begin to quiet
allowing agitated minds to meditate.
The assaulted senses slowly calm
as the spirit seeks inner peace.

It helps to restore a gentle peace
by finding chances to relax alone.
Let mind, body, spirit calm
in wondrous, glorious solitude.
Let anxieties cease, and meditate.
The troubled world recedes and all is quiet.

Listen to the quiet,
a symphony of peace.
The silence helps to meditate.
The conscience heals alone.
The concerted stillness in solitude
continues to bring calm.

All hysteria fades to calm.
The noise is brought to quiet.
The spiritual healing of solitude
restores the soul to peace.
The spirit regenerates alone.
It’s easier to meditate.

It clears the mind to meditate
And helps the thoughts to calm.
“Heal thyself.” It’s time to be alone.
The spirit rests in quiet,
The heart is filled with peace
In the healing of solitude.

Now, it’s time to leave the solitude.
No longer isolate to meditate.
It’s time to share the peace,
And help the world to calm.
Your peaceful presence will quiet
the world after you’ve healed alone.

Leave the solitude and generate the calm.
Remember to meditate to restore quiet
And share the peace received in time alone.

Hey Shenachie!  You've gone from "terse verse" to "mellow fellow"....this is a wonderful example of practice makes perfect.  Well, it's a perfect example of a sestina to me.  Let's see what Nan says when she checks in, but dang!  If you read this aloud, you feel like you've come back from a enjoyable two week vacation!

I have no idea what a sestina is or is not, I just know I loved this and it brought such calm and peace and quiet. Just glorious. Thank you for giving me a few minutes of solitude in a world racing like a car chase.  Hugs, Marti

Wow, do I ever feel good and relaxed and soothed. Very nicely done. I have read it several times and each time is more enjoyable than the last. Not only that but you followed the form and developed the theme well.

Thanks,
Pete

Thanks to all of you for reading and commenting.

Miss Nan--Thank you for kind remarks.  I hope that our free verse class doesn't get too unruly for you.  You are one generous lady to tolerate this rowdy bunch!
