A Go Getter
Do not give up on me just yet
This meter someday I will get
It will take me a few more times
Before it will stick in my mind

For me it isn't always easy
I will keep trying repeatedly
Sitting here in this fuzzy chair
I sometimes feel so much dispair

But never will I just give up
Even if I start to get stuck
Cause I am a real go getter
Someday I might just get better

Ok Balladeer! I will try it again. As you as you don't give up on me, I will keep on trying. I still don't quite get the accented/unaccented words. And gee, wouldn't you know I can't even find my dictionary. Or, would the dictionary show the accented/unaccented words? Off to try again.
Thank you, Balladeer!

Don't worry, Smartchick. I ain't giving up...and I know you aren't either!

Forget the dictionary. SAY the words. The syllables that have the most force are the accented syllables.

PO-e-TRY
po-E-tic
RHY-ming

So THEN just WRITE some PO-e-TRY
and YOU will BE po-E-tic.
if RHY-ming MAKES your HEAD ex-PLODE
my EAR is SYM-pa-THET-ic!

I know it's not easy, my friend, but we will work on it, syllable by syllable, until you get it down. Why? Because you WANT to learn...there is nothing I admire more.

Now get busy!!!

Dear Sue,

Go-getter is right!  I'm struggling with meter, also, starting with iambic.  I'm so grateful for this workshop because I've got a
lot to learn and it's gonna take some work.  I keep rolling up my sleeves.

I'm so glad that you are one of Nan's Students.  It's great being in class with you.

You go, Girl!
