FLUNKING

Miss Nan just gave us an assignment.
I’m getting ready to blow it off,
Preparing for corner confinement
The rest of the class will scoff.

I looked for something funny
Couldn’t find it for love or money.
This “F” ain’t just a rumor.

I’ve been studying poetic forms…
I’ve forgotten how to grin.
I’d moved outside my norms.
And now to smile is a sin.

I’ve got to rethink my thinking.
Been trying to get it down.
Now my thinking is sinking.
My brow has a permanent frown.

To get a semblance of a smile
You’ll have to stand me on my head
And leave me for a good long while
For the frown to smile instead.

You're funny and hey, at least you showed up for class.  That's gotta count for something, don't ya think?

You flunk with such grace Bridget, not to mention the smile it left upon my face.

So that's why I have this everlasting grin on my face! I stand on my head too often! Yeek, I hope my brothers won't find out. I might be in a lot of trouble!

Enjoyed your poem and humour Miss Bridget!

Thanks, everyone for commenting.  It's a relief not to be shunned for flunking.  I think that I might have done better if I had looked under "F" for funny instead of "H" for humor.  Enough of what I did wrong.  Can't stand on my head any longer, but thanks to all of you for turning my smile upright.

Well, wherever you looked, you sure found it a lot quicker than I did. This will surely get better than an F but Nan already said you don't get her apples.
