I can not write a villanelle for fear or want of time
I sit upon my writers place, and let my tormented mind roam
My Mind is plagued and lacks resolve, and worse a lack of rhyme

Too much of late has happened here, with visions wandering finds
Discontent abounds around this traditionally peaceful home
I can not write a villanelle for fear or want of time

I still myself in calm repose in hopes of muse to find
Perhaps some inspiration from the classics, theme to loan
My Mind is plagued and lacks resolve, and worse a lack of rhyme

Feeling this way for very long, for writers is a crime
Yet here again I find myself, distracted I am prone
I can not write a villanelle for fear or want of time

Late to complete this simple task, twill be a lemon or a lime.
And at that thought, in simple jest, I find I soundly groan
My Mind is plagued and lacks resolve, and worse a lack of rhyme

Through lots of lines in instance here, many are jest and mime
With intent lost, and lack of theme the ideas slowly roam
I can not write a villanelle for fear or want of time
My Mind is plagued and lacks resolve, and worse a lack of rhyme

"cannot write a villanelle", hah! Looks like you have done just that. Nice job and I have to strongly agree with the sentiment too.

Thanks,
Pete

Hi Casidy!

Weren't villanelles your idea?  Bet you don't realize that your idea was as good as your villanelle.  Loved the theme.  I think that you captured the writing struggles that we all feel.

Enjoyed the rite of write expressed so right.

I heard a rumor that Casidy can't write a villanelle - Must be a different Casidy, eh?

With but a slight deviation in meter here and there, this great peace develops a nice theme with a format well intact.

I enjoyed reading it immensely, m'friend - Glad you took the time to stop in this month..
