I Tried To Fly My Kite

That windy day I tried with all my might,
No matter what I did I'd always fail -
My destiny would not embrace that rite.

For half an hour I tried to fly that kite
But valiant efforts proved to no avail
That windy day I tried with all my might.

Then from the house I heard my wife recite
Her answer for the source of my travail
(My destiny would not embrace that rite.)

"I think I know the basis of your plight,
The reason you can't get your kite to sail."
That windy day I tried with all my might

She said "To help ensure a stable flight
It's clear to me you need a little tail."
My destiny would not embrace that rite,

I asked her for that very thing last night,
"Go fly a kite", instead I heard her hail.
That windy day I tried with all my might,
My destiny would not embrace that rite.

Pete,
Well this one's just about got it all.
Style, wit, humor, all wrapped up in a neat little package. As soon as I quit laughing I'm gonna have to try another.

Dear Not,

Loved the humor!  Hope that you eventually get it write... rite... right... err... whatever!  Maybe you should abandon kite flying and concentrate on the poetry in your destiny.  No point in fighting the wind.
Fun Villanelle!

LOL! Nicely done, Pete! To tie that joke into a villanelle.....that's talent! (not to mention great thinking!) I love it!
