da da Da , da da Da , da da Da
da da Da , it's a race , hip hurrah
starter's gun makes a pop
as the gates open flop
the whole crowd stands as one and goes "Ah !"

There's one horse at the back of the pack
one would think he could not have the knack
to keep up with the rest
though he's doing his best
to at least keep his butt on the track

For you see this one horse has no head
so to race he goes backward instead
It's an un-canny sight
still he thinks he just might
stand a chance once this poem has been read

They are going into the first turn
jockeying for the prize he must earn
The one way at the back
pours it on and runs smack
into trouble 'cause he never learns

There are races a-plenty to run
and sometimes it best not to poke fun
at the one up in front
or she may join the hunt
and your head disconnect like this one's

'round the track they're approaching turn two
Headless horseman knows what he must do
with hind-sight now he sees
perhaps apologies
are in order if wish would come true

Coming up on turn three side by side
time to set record straight as they glide
'round the bend , Munda friend
do you think you could lend
back my head ? It's for you to decide

Down back-stretch into turn number four
Deja Vu , have I been here before ?
Rushing blindly ahead
when I should be instead
list'ning to the advice I ignore

And the crowd cheers as down to the rail
back to front odds may be that I've failed
to undo what's been done
lest this race has been won
not by nose , but instead , by a tale

Doc,
I love it,
it made me smile it made me laugh, your tale won by a mile, and I'm not a giraffe
but the chuckles that rose up my neck, left me wishing it longer by heck, but the antics I felt reading you, were perfect and anpestic too.

Now Doc Moose tells us all quite a tale
Of this horse running round the race trail
So this horse with no face
Did he not win the race
Or was that Horseless Headman's entrail?
