Come on now Jim. You've just got to get a real life.   You're making my head hurt just with a casual glance at this description.

Real life is too depressing, Pete.  Well, actually the double sestina is pretty depressing too ... but it is maddeningly tempting, yes?  There is power in the dark side, Luke ... er ... Pete.

Geesh..... I have to admit that I haven't seen this... but it really looks like fun to me.. of course, I'm brain dead with a cold this week - ergo I haven't been able to spend time on it.... Jim - Do you have any more specifics? Are we doing twelve stanzas with twelve lines each???  Give me more - I love a challenge like this -
(sick puppy that I am)......

Nan:

I heard of this creature by a reference to a double sestina written by Swinburne called "The Complaint of Lisa".  I haven't been able to locate it so I am not 100% certain of the end word scheme.  It was described as being a tour de force consisting of twelve, 12 line stanzas and a concluding sestet.  Swinburne made it even more difficult on himself by incorporating meter and rhyme (taking the referencer's word for it, of course).

On another site I found the formula used to come of with the regular sestina's end word scheme.  It didn't work with the twelve line, double sestina format so I used separate schemes of six and alternated their order to come up with as close a format to the normal sestina as I could.  You can see that the word order is continuously rotated.

I am uncertain about the order of the concluding sestet.  I patched that together.  If anyone has access to Swinburne's works, look up "The Complaint of Lisa" and compare his scheme to mine.  I would be interested in seeing that.  As far as I can tell "The Complaint of Lisa" hasn't been posted online.

Sounds like Nan is in ... anybody else?< !signature-->

Philip:

Where's your sense of adventure?  Limericks about Brad are quite a bit of fun, aren't they.  But, come on!  We can have the best of both worlds ... whats da matter?  Are you ... scared?

LOL - You have to set it to meter, of course... or else there's no real challenge!!
.. and .. there are no time restraints on this one either...

See Philip?  Kess is gonna try it.  Come on ... toughen up, will ya?

Nan, of course it has to be set to perfect meter (not necessarily iambic meter, though, right ... I hope?).

Anyone else losing sleep over this one yet?

Hey Jim, sorry to mess up your end-word scheme but look at the new post on this thing.

Everyone:

I've modified the endword format slightly because of Pete's ingenious observation.  It turns out Swinburne was a bit of a slacker in creating a "true" double sestina.

Okay, guys.  Dig in.
