Do we really know what love is
Is it passion?
Is it friendship?
Is it an attraction?
All we really know is that love is love.
My definition of love is not just a word
but a person, a friend, someone who can
grow old with you and
someone that will hold you in there arms,
but even though we think love is perfect...
Its not
It hurts people
It makes them cry
It even ruins lives
I hope you realize that love is not perfect
and that you'll look at love in a different way

I really like this poem, it is so~o true!!! I think you put into words what a lot of people cant, and also what many dont realize, that no matter what we do, in the end or somewhere along the way we do get hurt. Love hurts, but it also heals. Keep writing!!

P.S. Look at my poems sometime

I congratulate you on your new (or old, I don't know) found secret! Love does hurt! There's no way around it. But right about now I'll tell you this much, it also has a lot of power to heal you. Don't give up on love! Only on your darkest night of despair will you find it ni yourself to feel love, to create love, to be love. Best of luck-you'll find the right person...some day! =0) Great Writing though! keep it up!! Love Always~Jessica Lynn~

pretty good poem,  but i must disagree yet again, ever notice i disagree alot.  Anyway, I think i might disagree in verse

Love is perfect,
Love is kind,
Staring us in the face
But we're too blind.

We say love hurt us
We say it is too deep
But this pain that hurts
Is not love so do not weep

The pain that fills your heart
The one that brings tears
This my friend is the absense of love
You'll learn this in your years

When your down and crying
Cursing love and sending it on it's way
Please remember it is not love that hurts
It only hurts because the love went away

I have to agree with the last comment that love is not what hurts, but the loss of it.  Love has many forms and is entirely unconditional and unselfish...that to me is perfection.  To love is to simply care, without reason or reward...or even love in return.  I'm not trying to contradict...you did an excellent job and I do comend you because you expressed the point that although love is a mystery, we do know that it never comes without the chance of losing it.
