I've hurt you, my love
And I am ever so sorry.

Do you remember the times we held each other?
Do you remember that gift I gave you
On Valentine's Day?
Remember the kisses I gave you when I told you,
"I love you."

I gave you my heart, you gave me yours.
Together, we were as a whole
And apart, we were empty.
You were my island of tranquility in a sea of chaos.
You kept me up, and told me everything would be ok.
I believed you.  I clung to you.

But then the seas began to churn.
Suddenly I was drowning, and so were you.
We reached out to one another,
Yet neither of us reached back.
"It has to be this way," we said.

The waves made us drift
Nearer, farther, nearer, farther,
Until today, when I could barely see you
On the horizon

The sea of life will make the gulf between us
Wider and wider.
I wish it didn't have to be so.

I love you, ever so much,
And I wish I could change things.
I wish I could have those loving,
Endearing moments again.
I wish I could.
But I know I can't.

If you asked me back, I would rush to your side.
Even after everything that has happened,
I love you.
I still love you, sweetheart.

It doesn't have to be this way...

The truth will attend to itself.

Very deep and heart-felt. Great first post. You use words wonderfully to express your feelings. Welcome to the group!

I liked the line "You were my island of tranquility in a sea of chaos".
Nice writing.  Welcome to Passions!

Wow, this poem struck me very hard. It sounds like my past relationship I had with my bf.
It's almost scary...and very eerie. Great poem, welcome to Passions.

"We reached out to one another,
