Here's my newest poem I promised. It's about the life of the modern teenager and the troubles
he/she has to cope with. It's a bit long but I had to put everything in. Hope you enjoy
it and see a teen's side as well.

TROUBLE

Take the damn Playboy,
Come on, Let's go!
Out of my way, coming trough,
****, the cops, better stay low.

Life's hard if you ain't got the dow.
Life's hard if you got nothin to show.

Run,
they're after us!
thru the alley,
let's hide in that bus!

Booze, Sex, Cocaine and Camel Mild,
this is MY life, you messed up child!

Cops are gone,
quickly, cross the street.
Climb over the fence,
thru the washing and some lady's sheets.

Have to fit in, have to perform.
God save my soul, I hate this world's norm.

Time to go home,
but first, escape the dogs' bark.
Damn those mutts are ugly,
I'll take a short-cut thru the park.

Party tonite, party ever night.
Party now, worry later, that's right!

Run into the homies
"Here bro, have sum weed".
I take it, smoke it, live it,
Ah, no worries, now that's what I need.

Clean up your room and do the dishes!
Isn't it a teen's duty to go against Mom's wishes?

They call us degenerates,
and force us to go to school from 8 till three.
Nah , I'd rather watch Marilyn Manson and Doctor Dre
kick ass on MTV!

Sorry I didn't know swearing wasn't allowed. The part where there are **** it's supposed to be the s h i t word. I added it for a stronger effect to the teen's anger. Sorry if I offended anyone in some manner.

Interesting poem, Bert! That is a very good description of what life is like for some teens. There is plenty teens that aren't like that though. I enjoyed reading it. It shows me how lucky I am that I am not in a situation like the teens you wrote about. Awaiting your next poem!!

dear bert,
well, i have to say this isn't quite what i was expecting when i thought of a poem on "teens and the struggles they face".  it seems to me to be more a poem about the results of the struggles they face.  the struggles of the teenage years aren't about rebelling and experimentation, but rather about seeking out a sense of identity and belonging... more about questioning social mores and standards than direspecting authority.  i've always felt that the things you write about here are more the RESULTS (or perhaps symptoms is a better word?) of adolescent confusion more than they are the cause.  as for the structure and verse of the poem, i think it's fairly good.  many of the words i would never use in poetry, but i think for your intent they work well.

sincerely,
the beautiful freak

Ok, ok... the poem, i should rather say, is about the troubles the majority of teens get into these days and what they think about life. As for my word usage - I think it is appropriate that I used a lot of slang and bad English, so that it fits the
lifestyle of a teenager.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my poem.
