I'm so tired of doing this.
Of putting on this mask everyday.
But why's it feel like I'm helping so many
when I am being fake in every possible way.

I'm so tired of doing this.
Of pretending I don't have any fears.
But I want you to love me and to accept me,
and so I'll never let you see all these tears.

I'm so tired of doing this.
Of always being the "good little one".
I've tried for so long to be what you want,
but I'm tired, I'm finished, I'm done.

Enjoyed reading your poem.  I posted a similar one in Dark Passions a month or so ago.
        Parage of Masks
Don't be fooled by the face I wear
for I wear a thousand masks
I give the impression that I am secure
condifence is my name, coolness my game
     but don't believe me
I am afraid that deep down, I am nothing
and that I am no good
that you will see this and reject me
feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness   are my constant companions
So I play my game, my desperate game
with a facade of assurance without
    and a trembling chill within
And so begins the parade of masks
and my life becomes a front

Thanks for the replies.  Danny-your poem is wonderful.  I've always think about this topic for myself, but it's kind of sad(and scary) to think so many people are just playing a part or acting out a character...not themselves.

very nice poem. Hey, wanna know something? I've completely lost my original personality to masks. I've build up so many personas that the real true me, maybe three people have seen recently. Heh, we all do it, me just a lot more than most.

I love this poem!!
I know exactly how you feel,
although I don't wear my masks for people to accept me, but to hide the true feelings I have inside.
Keep up the good work...

It really is scary that we all tend to hide our true feelings, and everything we truly are. We put on a front, like we are calm, cool, and motivated, and try not to let anyone know what we really are. You expressed all this very well in your poem, I commend you. I applaud your decision to be real from now on, and I hope you find someone who will respect and love YOU!
