I remember meeting you that first day,
In such a peculiar way . . .
A group we were put into,
Handed a ruler and told what to do.

Oh how we laughed and giggled,
Through that assignment,
I kept poking you in the ribs just to see how you'd wiggle.
I went home that 1st day content.

That I'd made a friend,
A together there would be no end.
That was four years ago,
And unlike no other me you've come to know.

You stopped my tears,
Courtesy of Ms. Schear.
You still tease me about slamming doors,
Involving you in most of my wars.

You were the one I told,
When I lost my virginity,
You were the one I called when the love of my life turned cold,
And I cried for what felt like an eternity.

We've shared so much,
Kisses and tremors for the place on one another we've touched.
I told you I loved you,
Only to feel as if my heart had snapped in two.

Unfortunately we were just  "friends",
You know the kind that lends,
A helping hand,
And tells the other when to take a stand.

So friends we stayed,
Though God knows I've prayed.
You talk about kissing me,
In the interest of a school project only you see.

You tell me about your ex,
And I just want to scream,
No one other than you connects,
With me - sometimes I feel as if you are a dream.

So maybe you know,
And maybe you don't.
If I told you I still loved you, you'd tell me where to go,
So I can't tell you - I won't.

Maybe someday you'll see,
How much you mean to me.
Until then friends we'll stay.
I wouldn't have it any other way.

"The worst of what people do to one another is deceive.
Because when you love someone you control their version
of reality. If you lie to them that's like making them
autistic so that what they believe is reality is in fact,
not their true situation at all."

It's not the angry words that break the heart, it's the silence.

Someone said that true love is like a ghost -- often spoke of but never seen.
I've seen both and yet in my darkest hours, tend to believe that neither exits.

A very touching poem, though it makes me kinda sad. I hope it works out between you and your friend.

"Sa souvraya niende missian ye." I am lost in my own mind.

This person sounds like a good friend to have.  May be best to memain friends.  Having someone there when you need a shoulder to lean on is important to.
This read like a story more than a poem, even though you made a good effort at rhyme.
Stay strong.
