A PROMISE BROKEN

You promised me you loved me,
you told me that you cared.
You swore you'd wait for me forever,
but now I know you won't be there.

You promised me you loved me,
that you wanted me near you always.
I believed you and I loved you-
you took my heart away.

You told me that you care for me,
that you'd do anything to make me happy.
I told you that I needed some space,
and I was sorry to make you unhappy.

You swore you'd wait for me forever,
if that was how long it took.
But when that other girl walked by,
I saw you throw in the book.

You promised me you loved me,
you told me that you cared.
You swore you'd wait for me forever,
but now I know you won't be there.

Thanks much for your compliment on my poem.  I wrote this one because my ex-boyfriend swore he'd wait forever for me, and less than a week later he slept with one of my close friends.  I was going to ask him back out until I found that out!

Promises made,
Promises broken,
Learn the lesson,
Don't believe what is spoken.

Guys aren't as serious,
Nor nearly as caring,
'Bout making committments,
Or true love in sharing.

They come and go,
Like germs and the flu,
When this you know,
The better for you.

"Take love at young ages, with a grain of salt. Never give yourself totally, or it's your own fault....Guys don't mature, as quickly as ladies, but the hurt's still the same, it will drive you quite crazy."

ditto... grrrrreat poem

Regret for things you did maybe tempered by time, regret for things you Didn't do, however, is inconsolable...

Thank you much for your replies.  I realize that guys don't mature as fast as girls, but he was 3 years older, and we were together for 2 years.  Thanks again for your replies.

This had to be so hard on you. I wonder when guys will appreciate what they have AT THE TIME. I can't really say too much cos I
haven't had a boyfriend yet. Still. To my knowledge, all guys end up jerks. My best friend had a bad experience, her guy cheated on her.
Anyway, great poem.
