Why it is always about someone’s look?

“Look at her”
“Look at their fur”

Just remember her hair is just full of gook

I look into the mirror
I see myself
I look much dearer
Since all of my make-up is on the shelf

My skin is not clear
My nose is not cute
My hair’s barely there
My eye color doesn’t even cost me loot

I am real
Why can’t people just see
I like who I am
So please let me be free

I like my happy fat
I am a human
My chest isn’t too flat
So all this doesn’t leave me fumin’

I am me
I always will be
So why do their opinions
Stir around so much in my dominions

Although someday
I wish I could look in to their glass
I would want to see it all MY WAY
Then I would be in their class

stephani:  i like this one also... especially the line "i like my happy fat"... i just love the idea of fat being happy... and, of course, jolliness is associated with large people... so i really dig that allusion...    have you ever read the poem "Barbie Doll"?   it's a lot like yours... i think you'd dig it... i wish i knew the author, but i'm afraid i dont... it's about a young lady who ends up cutting of her nose and slicing up her thighs because society said they were too big, or too fat... she dies and the mortician makes her a clay and plaster nose (one that is more the size she desired) and it ends by saying that she finally found acceptance... a very sad piece...

sincerely,
jerome the boy with no brain

A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon-lover!

Wow... good job.  I know what poem your talking of Jerome.  It is very simmilar in style and topic to this one.  I must say though stephani,  this is a topic that is growing to be more and more popular on this forum.  More people are pre-jugding others in socity then ever.  I must say this was a great chosen topic and well written.

Good job!  I have to say, that is a great way to look at yourself and be happy with who you are instead of complaining and wishing you were someone else. I feel the same way.  I'm not perfect, but I'm me. That's all that I need to be.  Too bad the rest of society doesn't feel like this.....
