A year ago today, I never thought of us ever being more than just friends, and yet, a week ago, we became more. The love we held inside for each other has been let out. No longer a secret, the guilt cannot torture me any longer, for I have loved you longer than I have let on. No one else can know, for they will no understand the strength it took for me to hold my love for you inside. I didn’t let anyone in on my secret, not even my best friend. I was in fear the day I told you, but I knew I had to. And now, I feel overwhelming joy to be able to call you mine. Even now, I look into your eyes, and I don’t even have to say a word. There is a fine line between loving someone and being in love with someone. I am now beginning to wonder just when we crossed that line. Something you said caused me to look at you differently, and at that moment, was when I knew I wanted to be with you. I'm still amazed by the fact that I can now call you mine. I now see the rose I wore last year holds more than just the memory of the last hug I gave you. I was wearing it the day I told you how much I care for you, the day my innocent crush became more. My secret came out, but to no one else but you. No one else needs to know. My love for you is for you and you alone, no one can steal it from you. |
