In the space between moments

A veil of starlight
Cascades upon her visage
The tears of forever
Etched upon porcelain features.

A flowering image
Stricken by the inky night
A greying shadow
Replacing the rainbow of youth.

Her children murdered
In a scarlet haze
The brilliant blade
Almost robbing her own life.

A lover's promise shattered
As a single phrase
Let a single spray of hope
Slip away.

A desolate skeleton
Of the warmth she once was
Haunting aimlessly
Her own watercolor memories.

The wind's icy tendrils
Beckon to the lonely ones
She follows the masses
Searching for what she's lost.

Withered to the bone
She drifts outward
Upon the open breeze
Of emptiness.

 *Krista Knutson*

~*Like a lion, without fear of the howling pack,
Like a gust of wind, ne'er trapped in a snare,
Like a lotus blossom, ne'er sprinkled by water,
Let me, like a unicorn, in solitude roam.*~ Hymn Of Buddha

WOW!  Ahhh...  I love to post replies to peoples work and give comments but, I read this one and I cannot even begin to write words on how I feel about this one.  It's great to read other peoples work and see different views on subjects.  The way you worded this poem was incredible. I especially was touched by
"A desolate skeleton
Of the warmth she once was
Haunting aimlessly
Her own watercolor memories."
Just a fine example of a great work on this board. Keep up the good work Alwye, I’ll be reading your works!

The whole poem was perfect, but the fifth verse especially struck me too. Sounds like this could have been me the way I was some time ago. I don't know what else to say but WoW.
