How can one so loved feel unloved,
How can one surrounded feel alone,
How can one guided be so lost,
How can one warm be chilled to the bone?

How can one without worry be so pained,
How can one with so much be empty,
How can one with friends feel so friendless,
How can one who sees beauty be ugly?

How can one who’s known God be doubtful,
How can one so young be tired,
How can one given much be ungrateful,
How can one safe be afraid?

How can one in the light see only dark,
How can one so “tough” be brittle,
How can one so lucky feel luckless,
How can one who’s learnt much know little?

To oneself one asks,
How can these things be?
I haven’t any answers,
For this woeful “one”, is me.

~I know the rhyming's a little dodgy, and there's a sudden change of rhythm at the end...oh well~

Your poem is wonderful! I know so many people (including myself) that feel like that. You have captured the feeling very well in my opinion. Keep your poetry going. It's wonderful!

The technical difficulties can easily be fixed with this piece. As for the theme of the work....We tend to not look closely enough at what we do have. We let the short comings of our lives over shadow the joys right in front of our faces. It is a trait of human nature. The battle is in changing our perspective.

Enjoyed this piece. Thankyou.

Thank you both for your comments
Leigh- I'm glad you can identify with it
Marilyn- Any tips on the technical things?

Tina,
We all feel lost at times, but I believe that even if one who "Has known God but is doubtful" can feel better again and see that...
Even in doubt
Just know that good will sooner or later come out!
