I place a wall
Before myself
To keep my feelings inside
A steel wall
Reinforced
Impenetrable
A wall of Styrofoam
A defense against
Hurtful comments from others
Easily broken through
Not hard to climb
It can only take so much
Before collapsing
And I under it
My steel wall
Backs me up
Supports me lest I fall
No one knows
The true way I feel
They are none the wiser
To my pain
And my sorrow
Unless they have the key
Of true friendship
Few have this key
And so I stumble blindly
Searching for a stronghold in my life
A constant factor
Unchanging
Something to anchor me down
To keep me
From being swept away
By a current of pain
I reach out
Looking for a hand to hold
A life raft
I find nothing
And I sink to the bottom
Of depression
And self-hatred

I am sorry for the way you feel. I have felt the same. I don't mind sharing my story. I was in the 7th grade and everyone made fun of me about the acne on my face. I would let it bother me so bad and hurt me so much. but now since I have gotten older I have my wall that is so strong and all of my friends to hold me up. So believe in yourself and don't let things bother you. Because trust me they are not worth all of the pain. They are people that want to bring only themslves up.

Carrie~ Thank you for sharing your story. My life these past few months has been a living Heck. I've had so many problems to deal with, and so many people to listen to putting me down. At some points it just felt like I couldn't take it anymore. But finally, things are starting to look up, and I've got great friends who support me every step of the way.

I too am sorry for the way you feel, Lyndz. Way too many of us out there experience such things. Myself included. Keep your chin up and with your talent, you'll go far in life.

Lyndz-i really liked your poem. I felt that way so many times in my life that i feel weird if i'm not feeling that way. Reading and writing poems that i can relate too help alot though. It's kind of an escape you know? Well anyway, you're a great writer. Keep it up. :-)
