Bittersweet

Tears fell from my blue eyes,
as I waved goodbye
and tried to smile.
I tossed and turned,
as I lay alone,
on a bed we shared for three days.
Each moment, each touch, every word
engraved in my mind.
I fell fitfully asleep,
closing my eyes to bring you nearer.
Each line of your face,
the sweetness of your smile,
the dimples on your cheeks
and the greenness of your eyes
all so clear before me.
I slept and dreamt of you,
awakened to reach for you
but realized you were gone,
and tears fell from my blue eyes.

(For anyone that's wondering about my trip...I had a wonderful weekend with a handsome, funny, and caring young man. It ended far too soon as you might be able to tell from this poem. It was a bitter sweet moment to be sure, to meet someone this wonderful and have to turn around and leave him for now. I promise to post something a bit lighter tomorrow...and Tyson, I love you)

Yes, I know we have all been wondering. The loving, the leaving and the longing was so clear in this poem.

Ruth, I hope you have some extra kleenex you can send this way. How beautiful and precious, but did I expect anything less from a women who can express her feelings with such finess. Glad it was a wonderful time, and I hope you get to experience many more like it.
