That night they shared so special,
A joy to cherish forever and a day,
In morning's light he awoke,
And watched his Brianna dreaming, a smile she did display.
But then a knock upon the door,
A message for Roderick from their Lord,
He must leave immediately,
And do battle with his sword.
Back in his homelands,
Many a days journey away,
He would be the leader there,
It was where he'd have to stay.
Was her uncle doing this to keep them apart?
He dearly wanted to know.
But there had been trouble in the North for many a moon,
He would never return, it was so.
He woke his new found love,
He wanted her to be his wife,
For he had never loved another this way,
She had become his life.
She wanted to desperately go with him,
But was duty bound,
To help her mother with the children,
She was needed to stay around.
If she turned her back on then,
It would be forever,
They would never forgive her,
If she let them down, no way, not ever.
They held each other close and cried an ocean of tears,
They had to go their seperate ways,
Now alone and with some fear,
No one to share their days.
Decisions made by the unhappy couple,
Thought of one more outcome,
They could end it all here and now,
But this way was weak and woesome.
She couldn't let down her family,
Roderick couldn't let down his men,
Another chance to better himself,
Is what he wanted then.
He was to leave before nooning,
Just pack, check provisions and ride,
A journey of lonliness and misery,
Without Brianna by his side.
They did their duty,
And often remembered their night of bliss,
When it all began,
With a simple little kiss.
They both eventually married,
And were happy enough,
But both also had a special talisman,
They loved and remembered when times got rough.
Their one night together,
When they touched the stars and moon,
Their talisman to carry,
A most precious and magical loving that ended all too soon.
Through poetry my heart and soul truly sing...
