In a valley in the mountains,
...in a land so long ago,
Lived a people O' so tranquil,
...in the kingdom of the snow.
Mountain peaks of pristine glory,
...rose as altars to the sky,
Down below in peaceful valley,
...never did the children cry.
Man and beast in harmony,
...lived upon the valley floor,
Endless harvests of land's bounty,
...sated hunger evermore.
Greed and envy, they were strangers,
...to the people of the snow,
In the safety of the mountains,
...Shangri-la to them bestow.
No passes in the ring of mountains,
...No pain could enter in,
So the people lived in Eden,
...peaceful valley without sin.
In the kingdom of the valley,
...Man and beast exist no more.
What became of tranquil Eden,
...people of the valley floor?
The mountains shielded all within,
...a barricade from strife,
The problem was no one could leave,
...and so there was no life.
