it was a beautiful ship
and an even more festive occasion
and he had tickets
to this once in a lifetime party
on New Year's Eve, 1999

he knew this girl
the one he always was afraid to approach
the one who seemed cold and dark
to some
but he knew that under her icy cover
lay a gentle bleeding heart

and he was going to ask her
to dance the night away
on a ship of dreams

he was going to ask her
to wear her most beautiful dress
to drink champagne
and to laugh and smile
and melt away her troubles inch by inch

until he could confess his love
and watch her eyes well in tears of joy
and maybe even, if the timing right
slip a circle of Platinum and Diamond
over her knuckle -third finger, left hand

yes, he loved her deeply
and he'd wait for all eternity
for one of her rare smiles

if only he could get past the lump in his throat
everytime he tried to speak the words

~smiling in his sleep, he snuggles deeper in his pillow, murmuring her name, and hearing faint strains of a violin in his heart, as his peaceful dream goes on and on~

I like this - I feel I can identify w/ the dark cold girl type in some ways and love people who see more than a dark cold girl - i hope your new years eve turns out great

This flowed so perfectly that I was at the end before I knew it! And what a great ending!

Very romantic indeed (SIGH) You had be going there for a second though, with the title 'Ship Of Dreams' '99 I thought it might be the Titanic revisited!!
In fact there is a challenge for you Jack and Rose back on Titanic which is yet to sink in 1999. You game?

Well, he better get over that lump in his throat. He who hesitates misses the boat.

Beautifully written, Angel.
