Old Feldman
by ©Richard J. Budig 1999

It's not that death is such a sullen visitor
As it is the frame of mind of the visited
Take old Feldman for example
First left alone by his sickly wife
And then by sons taken in war
So that old Feldman sat alone at home
Day upon day and night upon night
Fondling the pistol of one of his brave sons
Which he refused to use when a madman
Entered his house and shot him nigh unto death
For fear that in so doing he would die alone

Really enjoyed this piece broker6...very sad and very well written.....
The last line was a heartbreaker...
