There had to be someone out there.
Of that, I had no doubt.
I thought I'd use the 'search' routine
To help me seek you out.

I typed the word "romance" in,
Convinced you would be there.
Three zillion possibilities
Appeared from everywhere.

True romance, and romance novels,
Magazines and books,
Romance the Stone and sweet romance,
Romantic thoughts - GADZOOKS!

I entered in the word "love".
I didn't see your name.
I tried "desire" and "need" and "trust"….
Results were all the same.

So then I typed in "passion".
Well, I could have read for hours
At all the entries that appeared!
(What are those golden showers?)

I've been alone so long now
I only want to see
The smiling face of someone who
Will just be nice to me.

I finally typed "I need someone!",
A plea in every word.
The screen went blue, then said
"A fatal error has occurred….".

I'll try again tomorrow.
Love has no substitute
And, if at first you don't succeed,
Reboot! Reboot! Reboot!

Great one, Balladeer! I enjoyed this! Sure sounds like the frustrating search! But then again the 'old-fashioned way' is equally so!

This was well done of course, but what a lonely surch across the miles of cyberspace for one with so much to give, if indeed this was you and not one of your fictional characters.

Hey, Denise and Marilyn, Thanks very much for replying.

Martie...only fictional. Hopefully I'll not be reduced to that.

Reduced? Ouch my friend....for all of those desperate hearts that accually do search out love online. I am not one of those....I am a bit of an...hmmm how do I say it...a skeptic...friendships I have encountered but.... I think it takes a couple of truely unique individuals to make cyber romance work.

Dear Marilyn, either you misunderstood or, more likely, I explained myself badly. I find absolutely nothing wrong with "cyber-romance" or exploring friendships on the net which could lead to romantic ties. My "reduced" comment was aimed at anyone silly enough to use the SEARCH command to find love, in the same way you would use it to find a car. 'Twas a joke, my dear, not a slur.

Doesn't matter where you search. It's when you're not looking that love finds you. And ohh what a sweet shock it is.!!!

ROFL @ fatal error and reboot!!! Just when you thought you'd found the perfect search parameters! LOL. But it figures... love isn't a matter of finding perfection but accepting and delighting in the flaws and quirks. *G* Another great one, 'Deer friend!

I waited there, beyond the screen
watching you seek your fate
Alas, you passed my website by.
I tried to connect, but was too late
I've only had 4 hits today
my Explorer waits so patiently
Perhaps another browser will work
now that Microsoft's a monopoly!

I just love everything you write, and yep just when I just about get it right, my netscape turns criminal, everything I try is illegal, and its reboot for me too

lol, but I think the "passions" cue was the closest you are gonna find, there sure are some nice people here....and lol, if you don't *find* love at least you can read about it *g*

I see you missed not a step in my absence, Balladeer. Well done as always...though as I've said before, I should be the poster child for this internet romance thing...hehe.
Femme, hurry back, I'm going nuts without you.

amusing.. I can't seem to write "amusing".. I must be missing something.. (grin).. I never can seem to get that trivial writing thing.. (not an insult).. I just have so little time to write.. I guess maybe I'm trying to hard. It certainly takes talent to be able to write so much though. Maybe I'm taking myself too seriously. You get so many replies.. I guess I'm not doing something right.. oh well.

Won't keep me from writing thou..

made me laugh .. thanks
