im sorry this cant be better, but i struggled to put it together in memory of mike hascheck, a boy who died this past year at my school from a disease he fought all his life:

The autumn wind bit down me
with an unfamiliar sting
and as I stood in silence
my ears began to ring.
we gathered ‘round in memory
for one who passed away
and sadly knowing not of him
I had little to say.
Our paths had crossed once or twice
we shared a common glance
yet to sit down and talk to him
I never had the chance.
So as I stand in solitude
surrounded by his closest few
why am I so touched by the loss
of this boy I never knew.
Maybe trough his mothers tears
I see into his heart
or is it his brothers humble eyes
that sets his soul apart.
The instant that my feelings changed
Ill probably never know
but standing here beside his grave
my tears I must let go.

I would like to think this to be a true piece, and in the loss of one life, another life began a new spurt of growth and is learning to see compassion in a new light.

Welcome to Passions, I hope to see more of this type of fine work from you again.

[You may want to run a spell check and grammar check now and then, your work would read much smoother.]
