I can’t express my feelings. My stomach tightened at the sight.
Memories flashed into my mind of long forgotten nights.
I’ve sat here across this table every weekend now for years.
Have told you that I love you with countless smiles and tears.

This weekend visit differed then the others times before.
I couldn’t stand the distance of this table anymore.
I quickly moved beside you the closest we have been.
To any kind of encounter since I can’t remember when.

I felt my pulse quicken I couldn’t seem to breathe.
Felt the warmth of closeness your hand upon my knee.
Then you raised you shirt up I saw a flash of skin.
You saw my cheeks darken and gave your crooked grin.

I’ve always loved that six pack haven’t seen it in a while.
Even now I can’t forget it as I sit here alone and smile.
People do not understand why I would sit and wait.
For a man who sits in prison behind an iron gate.

I often ask that question sometimes I just don’t know.
Until I feel you hold me close when its time for me to go.
I can tell the world right now if I have to wait another year.
They won’t find me home on Sundays, baby … I’ll be here.

When you truly love someone, no wait is too long. *S*

Wonderful poem, Lucie... even if I did think Fosters when I saw the title! LOL.

just remember that love will always last, no matter how long the wait. i'm glad you still have such a positive attitude, knowing long distance relationships are always more difficult to bare. good poem!
