(My appologies to Chris, Balladeer and Toerag for the use of their names)

When Cupid Lost His Wings

It was a cold day in November
I remember well
A day that’s clear here in my mind
The day that cupid fell

Now that little cherub boy
Was playing with my mind
Shooting arrows here and there
In hopes my love he’d find

He was working over time
He was on a roll
But all that flapping of his wings
Was bound to take it’s toll

I was getting so confused
Arrows flying left and right
When the clock struck 9 PM
I was on date three that night

First was charming Balladeer
A gentle man of course
And Christopher who played the knight
And rode in on his horse

The final one was Toerag
Who knocked upon my door
I looked out to see him there
And thought, “Oh no, no more”

I opened up the door to see
Him smiling there at me
And in his hands a bunch of flowers
Which around them buzzed a bee

“Look out I said,” a bit too late
As the bee began to land
Upon Toerag who unaware
Swatted it with his bare hand

The bee became so angry
It bit him on the rear
And Toerag in hasty escape
Threw the flowers in the air

Poor old cupid flying high
With duty on his mind
Was busy taking careful aim
To all else he was blind

The flowers hit his tired wings
And threw them all off beat
He lost his balance in the sky
Crashed at poor Toerag’s feet

His wings were broken, his bow was bent
There were tears there in his eye
From angel status he had gone
To just a naked guy

He hid his full embarrassment
Among some other things
Oh it wasn’t a very pretty site
When cupid lost his wings

So THAT's where Toe's been!!! Dating Hoot! Wrong Ruth, Toe!!!! My poor heart is broken almost as badly as Cupid's wings! LOL

By the way, Hoot... you did well to save the best for last. *G*

Dear Ms. Owl...

This notice is for you to appear in court for using the copywrited name of Toerag in such a slanderous way......(It's usually on Post Office walls in a sorta "wanted" by the law way). You silly gal you....I would never hurt something like a little cupid type bee yanno.....LOL...nice job...great thoughts put into words..now then, take off your clothes and let me take the place of that little cupid with his "arrow" or the bee with his stinger...ta hell with cupid and his little wings.....I'll show ya what to "spread"...and you'll still fly high....and it won't be your wings!!!!!!!!!!!! But I do love to eat honey yanno....got some....honey?

Toe...LOL, not going to touch that one with a ten foot pole, I hear suthern has a nastly right hook.

Suthern...not to worry, got my eyes and wings set on someone already, Toes just too good of a sport to not have used him in this one.

Tara, thanks for the phrase

Kevin, watcher, RG, Iloveit, Pepper and Martie, thanks glad it gave you a laugh

Why, Ruth my girl, I didn't know
You'd had a date with Chris and Toe.
From what you say to me, it sounds
Like Chris was there to horse around
And if, by chance, you saw the bare nub
Of Toe, that sill little cherub
I'd say you finished with the worst
And, at least, had saved the best for first!

Oh Balladeer you might be right
For that darn Toe ruined my night
And Chris' horse it left a pile
That was quite large and smelled real foul
And poor old cupid, what a sight
No longer has his wings for flight
For all his errands, he'll now be late
Hey, I think I'll ask him for a date

Denise, thanks
