A Bonnie Life

Ah, tis a bonnie life indeed
In wha no teardrops fall.
An' honest men ha all they need-
An justice is fer all!

An' pretty maids do cast their eyes
At only single men-
An' men be true to all their wives
Do good to kith an kin.

"An' may ye be in hivin, three days"
The Mick hath said-
"Afore yon de'il wi' horns an tail-
Sha e'en know yer dead".

"Ah,that the peats might cut the'selves-
An' fish sha leap ashore"-
Tha I might read me Robbie Burns
An' rest forever more.

A bard and wanderer, ye say?
Tha such as I do be?
Ah, lad, tis far the better way-
For I at least am free.
