Green Flash Dreams of a scarlet sunset Steamy salty spray of sea Green flash on pink horizon Scotch mist drifts over me Ten toes curl, cold wet sand You emerge, young and strong Shiny sprinkles, sapphire sequins Slow pulsing beat, a siren’s song Emerald eyes, flaxen hair I have seen you here before Riding the waves gracefully Running along the shore Shy smile, a silly girl again Crushed by sea-and-sky eyes Touch of the hand quickly Takes me by surprise Lifts me, sweet ease of youth Falling in, cool soft, velvety We tumble like tossed stones Kiss undersea kiss again Mystical man returned to the sea Loved you, but too naïve to know So forgive my reminiscing When bitter winter winds blow © 1999 Corinne Bailey |
