“No man is an island”.
At least I’ve heard them say-
That everyone needs someone..
I cannot say them, “Nay”.

But this I can and will maintain
Sure as the stars above...
There’s neither rhyme nor reason
When a person falls in love.

Love is a form of madness-
I doubt not this is true...
Consider those around you
And you will see it too.

For kindest maid, loves cruelest cad-
And finest lad, some tart...
And reason has no voice, my friend
When dealing with the heart.

And have you ever noticed-
It seems we never learn....
By all our past poor choices
And times our hands were burned?

Again, and yet again, I say-
Our hearts respond alike
To the same sort we’ve had before
Unlike the lightning strike.

Time after time a genteel girl
Will marry some vile boozer
Just as Miss Likely to Succeed-
Will keep on wedding losers.

Well done! I totally agree! People are so blind or foolish sometimes..

This is great! And I'm sure so true for so many people! Perhaps my husband and I are the exception to the rule! (I hope I'm not a tart!)

You have an amazing way with words! Your words echo in my soul. I fear the same bad choices I have made in my life.

Ya know what they say, gs. A woman's love is like the morning dew....it would just as soon settle on a horse's ass as a rose. Good poem.

'Slinger, you've done it again, and hit on human nature. Sometimes we're luckier the second, or third, time around.

Good piece, thanks!
