In perfect measured intervals
through all of time and space
marches never-ceasing time
on a cruel and heartless face
Oppressor of all humankind
and God of life itself
With a shrine in every household
above the mantle, on a shelf
A ruler without mercy
who halts for no one's sake
And from its throne it dictates
every move we make
It pulses through our very veins
It beats within our hearts
It measures all existance
It's the beat to which we march
Seconds, minutes, hours,
"Hurry, we must make haste!"
"Heaven forbid that we be late!"
"There is no time to waste!"
Onward will this ruler rule
over the way which we behave
Despot of us humans:
Time the master, we the slave

Your comments are well appreciated, fellow poets! Thanks bunches...
I wrote this thinking of how I seem to be eternally running around in an attempt to get things done on time. If anyone sees time, tell it I need a break!
