“Exquisite!” I thought when I saw it-
“The finest that I’ve ever seen”!
Three carats of carbon, perfected by time-
Cut polished and set in a ring.

The price was quite handsome, I grant you-
But love has no price, nor a dream-
It took me a year, the price tag was dear...
The bauble was fit for a queen.

How my heart throbbed when she wore it-
A sign that declared, oh, so plain..
That she was my lady, beloved, my betrothed-
And soon we would bear the same name.

A fool? I admit it..Why bother..
Deny it? It speaks for itself...
For the lady is wed to another..
The ring, on a Pawnbroker’s shelf.

Ouch! Another fine shot GS (sorry for the pun). I walked around for almost 18 months with the SKU number of the ring I eventually bought my wife. Thankfully she's still wearing it.

Ow! The ring I bought my wife went back to where I bought it for a cheaper one before we ever got married. I agree with thrift but she has taught me all new meanings for the word.
