I'd love to be the man,
My kids all think I am,
I'd really like to a scholar,
Or perhaps old Superman.

I wish I could sing like Elvis,
From octaves high to low,
Singing gospel and some country,
And a little rock and roll.

It would be nice to have the looks,
Of that guy they often use,
On the cover of that magazine,
The one they call "G.Q."

If I had the knowledge,
And the expertise you all show here,
I'd be a profound poet,
Like the master Balladeer.

Toerag: I haven't noticed you lacking in many categories, sweets! *G* Your kids' adoration is well-founded, your intelligence is incredible, your poetic abilities keep Balladeer from getting stale and complacent... *G* And you well know what I think of your looks and singing abilities! *G* I'd have to say you grew up "jes fine." *S* Would that there were more like you!!

Isn't that something we'd all want, but then it would be so common, nobody would read it anymore ! You have your own skills and I liked a lot what I just read. : )

But, Toe, Suthern told me you had all those qualities and were all those things! (Psst..I think she likes ya).

From the responses you've gotten and friends you have made here, not counting how you write of your family, I find it hard to imagine anyone who knows you being disappointed at the way you are, except maybe LongJohn. Anytime you want to swap some of my profoundity for some of your charisma, say the word.

Yo Toe: These things you speak of are all fine and well... and I'd sure like to have them too... but they don't mean squat unless you got heart... and my friend, you got alot of it which far outshines all those other qualities. Who and what you are is what makes you special, otherwise you'd just be the same... and you are definitly different! Keep em' comin'.

I bet Elvis and Superman can't write a poem as sweet as this...as for those boy toys in the magazines...hmmmm....nope...they still don't have you beat.

Toe, if you were anything different, we'd all suffer the loss. Including your kids!
Loved the poem.

Toe, honey...all them boy toys can't hold a candle to you!

See...

Superman's a wimp
Elvis is long gone
And who would Balladeer pick on
Except for ol' LngJohn?

Those cuties on the cover
Slick GQ boys ya see
Can't do for me what you do~
make me laugh hysterically!

And that your children love you
placing you above the rest
Is proof that you're a man
whose life is truly blessed

You share your blessings with us
every time you click "submit"
And I for one am glad you're here
to grace us with your wit!
