Such a flower of beauty
Quite perfect in creation
This flower when compared to love
Is strong in its relation

Its aroma will allure you
The fragrance will entrance
If it captures all your senses
Your heart begins to dance

The colors know no boundary
T'ween yellow, white and red
And love sees not what's outside
But what's inside instead

Its petals folded tightly
They delicately entwine
And form a bond together
That grows stronger over time

Tis quite a thing of beauty
As it starts with petals closed
And opens to full bloom
As love does when it grows

This is exceptional WhtDove. But...

There is something you've forgotten
Something that I quite insist.
There is something you've forgotten.
Tis never just like this.

For these flowers are so beautiful.
No one can disagree.
They can draw blood so ruthlessly.
Great caution, with degree.

As with love, these words hold so true.
Never just jump in.
The thorns you find, can scar the soul.
The rose can scar the skin.

The purest love I wish for all,
This is a simple fact.
Look before you hurt yourself,
and all will be intact.

Sorry WhtDove...this just came over me. I hope I didn't offend.

To both Whtdove and Marilyn: I like both of your poems, and both are quite true. Love is the aroma that sweetens my life, but it is also one of the proverbial thorns in my side, among other things. Great work, both of ya.
