four specters astride four skeleton steeds four demons implied four terrible deeds with insects and worms wrought pestilence foul the wiggle and squirm beneath ragged cowl diseases and germs masses scream and howl skin rotted that burns fear deep in their bowels comes blight there's no grain famine kills the fields emptiness brings pain our stomachs annealed laughter takes the rain dirt's bare and congealed fear comes with this bane our weak fate is sealed then foul burden of man when battles erupt war twisting his hand to ply the corrupt fires of anger fanned on our blood he sups each wound he has planned our hate fills his cup death nightmare statue soulless eyes of black points a hand at you one touch no way back leads evil straight through imminent attack ‘cross night's clouded hue through the world they hack so gather your fears and have a good sin apocalypse nears with the four horsemen [This message has been edited by Christopher (edited 10-25-1999).] |

Hehehe - a dark offering indeed, though I find it hard to sense personal darkness in this - its quite generalised. Particularly biblical, though you might not agree - in fact its themes put me in mind of the 17th centuries classic depictions of death. I like 'have a good sin' - interesting way of putting it. Not sure of 'each would he has planned' though I adore 'fires of anger fanned' - and as usual your rhyme scheme is faultless! You, my dear, are just too talented! |

devine one- yes, it is scary...and only after I posted did I realize I did it here instead of dark...oops! dark lurker of the shadows, pepper, sey- Thank you!!! nan- make it a VERY good sin! Michael- thank you brother, glad you see the story in the rhyme! Balladeer- thank you as well sir, but maybe we should write one called The Four Horsemen Of The Y2K Bug! K- Quite right actually! (and a side note: "would" was supposed to be "wound" Oops!) |
