like velvet armor

wear my love like velvet armor
let it's peace be your guide
through the still and quiet valleys
to the place where trouble stirs into a storm
and you have no shelter from it.
use my soul as your resting place,
like a warm and secret cavern
hidden in the hillside,
let my desire be the blanket
under which you lie sleeping.
bravely sail all the seas
and sift through the sands of time,
there you will find my heart
waiting for you, gently beating for you.
keep it close to yours
and use it's light on your journey,
as your lantern in the darkness.
let it help you find your way
through narrow, winding passes,
dark and menacing forests,
over the tallest mountains, until you reach the cool streams of life you are searching for.
and when your voyage finally ends
cleanse away your pain
in my soft and joyous tears,
then let yourself fall into me
the way autumn leaves tumble one by one
to become part of the earth.
wear my love like velvet armor,
let it's peace be your guide.
i will protect you with my life,
i will, forever and quietly,
stand by your side.

Thanks to all for your support. I am new to Passions and very shy about sharing my poetry. I feel I have found some kindred spirits within these pages. Your comments encourage me and I look forward to posting more of my work in the future (and all of it is not so sweet).
